Week in Review 6/8/14

    In my life this week…
I had a cold this week.  Yuck.

    In our homeschool this week…

We finished up a few things and a couple of reviews this week, so for the moment school is down to three review items (Moving Beyond the Page, WriteShop, and Go Science DVDs) and math.  WooHoo!

In our homeschool co-op this week...
We scheduled our summer picnic and yearbook signing day, started looking at dates for the mom's planning meeting (already!), and got the first round class list to start narrowing options down.  There are so many excellent choices for next year's classes.

    In Rangers this week...
Last Rangers meeting of the year!  I taught the Rainbows class for the last time.  Quite a few teachers were out this week, so my helper was a teenager named Emily.  She was the sweetest thing and is great with those littles.  There is a picnic on Saturday, but we had already been planning to attend the fishing event at the hatchery.

    What we're reading...
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Sarah, Plain and Tall

    In the yard...
The rain on Thursday was one thing, but the howling wind was uncalled for.  The worst part was not being able to send the boys outside much that day.

My kiddos favorite thing this week was…

Saturday, Mal and Xav spent the day with Micah at the fish hatchery.  It was free fishing day in Vermont.  At the hatchery, the boys could attend seminars about casting, tying knots, and identifying fish.  They both caught a rainbow trout.  Micah tells me Mal was jump-up-and-down excited.  They both had their catch gutted on site, too.

    Things Dad is working on...
Micah participated in the Dairy Festival's 10K - the milk run.   I think this was the fifth time.

He's also working on the tree house.  Right now, he is building a smaller platform for the neighboring tree, about halfway up to the future tree house platform.

Micah also bought a Simon game.  Talk about nostalgic.  I love that game.  (Though he has top score.  For now.)

Out of the mouths of boys...
Mal: How was last night in your room?  Did you and dad sleep well (pronounced "whale"?)
Me: Yes, we did.  Thanks for asking.
Mal:  I'm concerned about your relationship.  I think you should take some time together and go to a hotel.  Maybe for two weeks or 21 days.
Me:  ??????
Mal:  Jasmine and Miss Jessica can be our baby sitters and we can watch lots of TV.
Ah!  The truth comes out!  And Miss Jessica was his helper in playschool when he was THREE!  We run into her around town every year or so, but that is it.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…

This is a serious example of a non-native species released in Vermont.  Check out Vermont Fish & Wildlife's photo.
